What the superintendents who hired him wrote
Letters of recommendation, March 2022, on district letterhead.
"During my 32 years as an educator, I have never worked with anyone who had a bigger passion for kids than Doug does. Doug is exceptionally gifted in the area of curriculum and instruction. While at Panhandle, Doug's school received the National Blue Ribbon award for high performance. His elementary school was consistently ranked in the top 10% of all elementary schools in Texas. Doug has been a presenter at the Superintendent mid-winter conference several times and is widely recognized for his ability to teach teachers and administrators. I wished I had him back."
Blair BrownSuperintendent of Schools, Panhandle ISD"Mr. Rawlins is by far the most effective instructional leader I have ever met or studied. His passion to grow individually, as a cutting edge instructional leader, allows him to teach those who are in the trenches: teachers, paraprofessionals and administrators. Mr. Rawlins is an advocate for all students without exception."
Kelly CarrellSuperintendent, Erick Public Schools"I have known Doug for over 25 years, and have never worked with a teacher, coach, or administrator that cares for students more than he does. Doug has been an administrator in four different school districts. All four districts were more successful academically with Doug than they were before he arrived. Before his arrival the state predicted that Claude Elementary would be a D campus the following year. In one year Doug had the campus at a B+ rating. Every time I have a principal or administrative position open, I call Doug and ask him to apply."
Jeff ByrdSuperintendent of Schools, Vernon ISD"As a leader for Stratford, Dumas, River Road, Panhandle, and Claude Independent School Districts, Mr. Rawlins has shown empowering leadership, dedication, and put into practice 21st Century strategies. The campuses he helped lead earned 5 of 7 possible distinctions TEA awards annually. As the principal of Mary Allen Elementary here in Stratford, he was able to turn around the campus and move it forward from Improvement Required status, and this task was accomplished during a COVID-19 pandemic."
Dr. Mike DominguezSuperintendent of Schools, Stratford ISD"Coach Rawlins has worked in many areas within education. He has been a teacher, coach, instructional leader, principal, and assistant superintendent. Coach Rawlins is well known for his ability to turn a school around. He speaks across the nation on this topic. He is also a sought after motivational speaker. Coach Rawlins is a man that gets things done and binds people together for a common cause."
Brett BeesleyAssistant Superintendent for Personnel, Dumas ISD. He played tight end for Coach Rawlins at Dumas in 1991 and 1992."In my role as a consultant for Region 14 Education Service Center, I have trained over 100 aspiring administrators. Of them all, Doug has the most dedicated work ethic, energy, and enthusiasm for the job. He is willing to set the pace, work hard himself, share the glory, take responsibility for mistakes, face setbacks positively, and he never loses focus on doing what is best for students. He makes his expectations for success clear and constantly offers support without micromanaging."
